Using "To Be"
We can express our feeling or a state in Simple Present Tense by using the verb "to be". Look at the following examples.
- I am a student.
- He is nice.
-
She is beautiful.
-
We are together.
Adverbs of frequency
As noted at the beginning of this chapter, Simple Present Tense is used to express regular activities.
Therefore, in this tense we usually use adverb of frequency like always, regularly, usually, often, sometimes, every day, every week, seldom, rarely, never. You can also add details to the adverbs, for instance "everyday at 8 a.m".
Now study these sentences to see how those adverbs are used:
-
I drink milk every day.
-
We eat regularly.
-
They always read newspaper.
-
She is late sometimes.
